The University Club’s architecture exudes scale, intent on providing a relentless championship test fitting an SEC powerhouse. With its expansive corridors, bold target lines, and a mix of watery threats and dense native, the layout both encourages brawn and punishes bravado. The big acreage lets the design breathe: wide landing areas give hope, but stray offline and the native swallows weak swings, amplifying the tournament tension. Greens are strong-shouldered and well-defended, tuned for speed during event weeks and favoring strategic approach play. Recent renovations by Lobb + Partners and Oliver Tubb have sharpened the test further, especially on the new stretch from 6–8, blending in fresh angles and risk-reward dilemmas that add flavor to the muscular routing.
