1. Scope and who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how The Caddie Report (“TCR,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles personal information when you use thecaddiereport.com, create an account, build golf lists, plan a trip, connect with another golfer, submit content, or communicate with us.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information such as your name, email address, password credentials handled by our authentication provider, and profile photo.
- Golfer-profile information such as city or home base, home club and other club affiliations, handicap range, years playing, playing style, access and travel patterns, Course DNA, biography, and golfer archetype.
- Your golf activity, including courses played, Want to Play selections, favorites, Top 10 and bucket lists, personal ratings, course takes, memories, photos, scheduled rounds, and recommendations you interact with.
- Connections information, including people you search for, requests and invitations you send or accept, and an invitee’s email address when you ask us to send an invitation.
- Trip information, including destinations, course itineraries, dates, participants, lodging, restaurants, flights, transportation, notes, and contributions to shared trips.
- Feedback, support messages, beta requests, and other communications.
Information collected automatically
We may receive device, browser, approximate location derived from IP address, referring page, pages viewed, feature interactions, and diagnostic information. With your analytics permission, we use PostHog analytics and masked session replay. Input fields are configured to be masked, but you should not enter sensitive personal information into free-form fields.
Location and Google Places
When you select a city, course, hotel, restaurant, or other place, Google Maps Platform or Google Places may process the search and return place information. We may store a place identifier, display name, coordinates, and related details needed for discovery, distance calculations, and trip planning. We do not collect precise device location unless a feature clearly asks for it and you permit it. Google processes information under its own Privacy Policy.
3. How we use information
- Provide, secure, troubleshoot, and administer TCR.
- Personalize recommendations, rankings context, course discovery, golfer profiles, and trip planning.
- Enable private Connections, shared trips, invitations, notifications, and transactional email.
- Moderate content, prevent abuse, enforce our Terms, and protect users and the service.
- Measure product performance and improve TCR when analytics permission has been granted.
- Comply with law and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
4. When information is shared
We share information only as needed to operate TCR, at your direction, or for legal and safety reasons. Service providers may include Vercel for hosting and product analytics, Neon for database infrastructure, Resend for email delivery, PostHog for consented product analytics and session replay, Google Maps Platform and Google Places for map and place features, and authentication providers used to secure accounts. These providers process information for the services they supply to us.
Information may also be visible to people you intentionally interact with. Accepted Connections may see the profile information TCR designates as connection-visible. Trip members may see the itinerary, participants, and contributions within that trip. Publicly shared lists or links are visible to anyone who receives or accesses the link.
We may disclose information if required by law, to investigate fraud or abuse, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections.
5. Your choices and controls
- Edit your golfer profile and Connections discoverability from your profile.
- Remove saved courses, lists, trip content, photos, and other contributions where the product provides that control.
- Change analytics permission through Cookie Preferences in the footer.
- Unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in that message. Essential account, security, invitation, and trip messages may still be sent.
- Request access, correction, export, or deletion of your personal information by emailing chris@thecaddiereport.com. We may need to verify your identity.
6. Retention
We retain information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide TCR, maintain the integrity of shared trips and records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations. Retention periods vary by category. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer reasonably needed, subject to backups and lawful exceptions.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to an early-stage online service. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or loss will never occur. Protect your credentials and notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.
8. Children
TCR is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.
9. U.S. state and international rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of personal information, or to object to certain processing. TCR does not sell personal information. Submit a request by email and we will respond as required by applicable law. Information may be processed in the United States and other places where our providers operate.
10. Changes
We may update this policy as TCR changes. We will post the revised version with a new effective date and provide additional notice when a change materially affects how personal information is handled.
