Prairie Dunes is Perry Maxwell’s American answer to the Scottish links: raw, rolling, and dictated by waves of native Kansas prairie grass, sand, and wind. The routing drapes effortlessly over the dunes, blending severe elevation changes with audacious angles and some of the U.S.'s most diabolical green complexes. Maxwell’s minimalist ethos—the belief that the best course was simply waiting to be found in the land—gives Prairie Dunes soul. Later restoration from Coore & Crenshaw and Whitman, Axland & Cutten preserved this DNA, enhancing bunkering and maintaining strategic intent without ever overwhelming the landscape’s natural beauty.
