Cherokee began in 1955 when a group of young couples dreamed up a club with relaxed elegance and an eye for tradition. Their vision turned into one of the city’s premier private social and golf sanctuaries.
The original Grant Estate, built amid World War I for railroad magnate John Grant, now houses the Town Club. Its grand ballroom once hosted debutantes and, later, the first club dinner dance—history you can sense with every visit.
In 1963, the club welcomed the U.S. Women's Amateur, sending ripples through Georgia’s golf scene: a national championship played on Cherokee’s rolling, pine-lined fairways.
